Forage Less Costly

Time and time again nutritionists agree "the basis of a dairy cows diet is good quality forage". Forage like any other food source is best when fed fresh. Therefore nutrition cannot be enhanced by storage but merely preserved.

The most economical source of nutrition for dairy cows is alfalfa. When cut at the right time and stored properly it can provide a large portion of a high producing dairy cow's diet.

There is no other storage system that can prove itself economically like the Harvestore for stored forage material. Independent University studies state that storing hay silage above 55% moisture both increases soluble protein, increasing blood urea levels and decreases bypass protein required for higher milk production.

High Moisture Corn

Why spend money on energy to dry your corn and reduce its energy for your cow?

Energy + + +

A series of experiments conducted at USDA, ARS in Beltsville, MD, indicated greater differences between energy content of HM corn and dry corn then had previously been estimated. In the calorimetry experiment, NEl values of the dry corn were 86% of the energy value   of HM corn.

Ruminal degradation of carbohydrate and net energy for lactation is greater for high moisture corn than for dry processed corn and produces a 2 kg/day difference in milk production in controlled studies by the USDA.

A Lot of Bunk

Rolling corn into storage in a bag or bunker reduces corn's efficiency to 13% less than dry corn whereas high moisture corn rolled after storage increased gains by 11%. That's a 23% difference.

Better Yields in the Fields

A 5 to 10% increase in dry mater recovery per acre can be expected with high moisture corn because of reduced field and harvesting losses.
